This was Anthony's first year of officially playing hockey.
This year we chose to put him in a league that was on the other side of town, because it was $250 cheaper than the one closer to our home. The only problem was that it was an extra 20 minutes drive difference of the one closer to us. You might be thinking, that's not a big deal, but for those 7:00 a.m. practises and games where they had to be at the rink by 6:30 a.m., it was a B-I-G deal. But now it's done, until the fall anyways.
We chose to put him in that league because Anthony didn't have much skating experience. Other than "parent and tot" skating he had not really been on ice skates. So we didn't want to spend $500 on registration fees, in case hockey was not "his thing". His very first practise, he spent the entire 45 minutes trying to stand-up. It's amazing how fast they pick up the skating! By the end of the season, we called him "the torpedo". The kid could skate F-A-S-T!!!
His hockey team's name was the Mighty Canucks and he was #12.
I thought I would share pictures of his last game.
It was an important game. They played full ice, coaches had to wear ties and they had referees.
The paparazzi was everywhere!
"o.k. I'm ready!"
I love seeing all the pink helmets on the ice...
...And shoe laces too.
This is Anthony getting his medal.
And of course he had to do a dance around the rink when he got his medal.
He was a happy guy!
And I'm a happy mommy!
