This year, we are not hosting our extended Family Christmas party at our house. We will be travelling between my sister's and my mother in laws house for the dinner parties between Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Let's hope for good driving weather, because my sister lives two hours away from us.
Even though, we won't be having Christmas dinner at our house, we will still be celebrating at some point at our house. Turkey with all the trimmings (and lots of leftovers).
So I decided to set our Christmas table. I wanted it elegant, and I wanted it simple.
I wanted to use things that I already had, although I did purchase a few things. I used our wedding china and glasses.
I picked up the bowels at Homesense for $3.99 each. The table runner was picked up at the Dollar store. I left either side of the runner empty because I like to serve food family style, so that each person helps themselves. In our house, food is always the centrepiece.
In the middle I placed a rectangular Oil rubbed bronze tray with some silver and gold pearls and 3 votive holders. Under one of the votive holders I placed a snowflake, just for something different. Very simple.
This is our wedding china that we registered for in 1997, who knew that gold would make a comeback. It's Val D'or in case you are wondering.
I used angel ornaments with our names written on them as place cards. Before dinner each person will place their angel on the Christmas tree and make a wish.
So tell me, will you be setting your table this year or will you be travelling? Or both like us?
Happy Holidays, wherever you spend them.
