Christmas Cookie Week: A Recipe Link- Up Party - Day 1

Hi everyone!

So here's day one of our #ChristmasCookie week link-up party!

Today, I'm sharing with you Sour Cream Cookies!



I've been making these cookies for a long time, they are super soft and great for freezing and pulling out of freezer when you hear "mom, I need cookies for the bake sale tomorrow!" Ever happen to you??



Sour Cream Cookies
(makes 3 dozen)
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup shortening (not butter)
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup sourcream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (or any flour you want
  • 5 cups All purpose Flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
Directions:
  1. Beat together shortening and sugar, adding eggs one at a time. Add in sour cream and vanilla. 
  2. In separate bowl, combine remaining ingredients and add to wet ingredients.  
  3. Mix until all ingredients are combined.  Your dough will be sticky.  Put in fridge to chill for a few hours or overnight.
  4. Using tablespoon amount roll into ball and flatten with palm of your hand until you have disk shape. (you can also cut into shapes on a lightly floured surface)
  5. Bake in 350 oven for 8-10 minutes. Do not over bake, you want the bottoms lightly browned so that cookie is soft.
  6. Let cool, before frosting.

Frosting Recipe:

  • 2 cups Icing Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp softened butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla ( or other flavour)
  • 2 - 3 Tbsp milk
Beat until creamy! dollop on to cookie and decorate with sprinkles.  

I'm telling you these are good!  My kids said so! :)
