Just a sec...

Hey all!

I'm taking a few days off this week from posting.  Haley is having another surgery tomorrow, and I want to focus my energy on her.  It's nothing serious, but she will be in some pain and unable to eat solid foods for a few days.  And I panic anytime there is general anesthesia involved.

For all of my Canadian readers, I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend.

Talk to you all next week. :)

Oh, and if you have a second send up a prayer and positive thoughts for my little Haley, that everything goes well for her surgery tomorrow and has a quick recovery.

P.S. - Also, keep my uncle in your prayers as he's beginning treatment for liver cancer this week.

Adding Privacy

Hey all!

Looks like it's going to be a gorgeous day around here today.  Sunny is shining finally after a few days of rain!

Today, let's talk about the front door.

Our front porch needs some aesthetic work done to it.  It's not bad, but it just needs a little somethin-somethin.  It needs privacy and colour to make it stand a bit.

The door is actually set back a bit from the front of the house, so kind of disappears.

Except at night.  Now that it's getting darker earlier, I'm usually walking the dog in the dark for her last before bed walk.  The other day I was across the street about to make my way home and I could see my kids in the house with their pyjamas.  eeeek  I had never noticed this before.  Some of the lights were on and you could see clearly into the house!

So, today, I'm spending time to add some very much needed privacy to the front door and maybe some colour.

This is what I'm thinking.

(if you want to pin any of the images please use the caption under each picture. thanks)

1.  Changing the inserts.  I think this cost will add up quickly.  But it is stunning.

2.  Adding frosted contact paper for privacy. Privacy but would still let the light through.

Or make a design out of contact paper and adhere it.  Lots of work.  And I'm not sure I have the patience for this.

3. Maybe spray painting on Frosted Glass is more up my alley. Any one use this spray before?

As you can see I'm leaning towards painting the door black or charcoal like the front hall.

I'm unsure about painting the side lights black like the first two picks or leaving them white like the last pic.  What do you think?

So that's what I'm thinking of doing today, since it's a gorgeous fall day out.

Any other suggestions for adding privacy? (curtains are definitely out according to hubby)

Friday Five

It's a rainy day in my neck of the woods.  I ended up walking the dog in the rain, and neither she or I were happy about it.

1. Carla from My Half Dozen Daily is a local blog friend who is one talented lady.  I ordered a baby set from her for a family member who is having a baby.  Isn't it gorgeous?  You should check out her site to see her other creations. And her Facebook page too.

2.  I love home tours.  You get so much inspiration for your own home.  These two ladies, Kristen and Linsday are hosting 31 days of home tours.  I'm not on the tour, but I'm certainly enjoying peeking into the other blogger homes.  Enjoy!

3. Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks.  This is what I'm loving right now. I normally don't go to Starbucks, I'm more of a Timmies girl when I need a coffee to go, but  this time of year I love my PSL.  Have you tried them yet?

(Starbucks didn't pay me to say that, I really do love the PSL)

4.  Have you heard?  Pantone's colour of 2014 is Dazzling Blue.  I love blue, so I'm excited about this.

How do you feel about it?

5.  I found this table at Goodwill this week.  The top is pretty beat up and needs to be re-done.  The legs are chrome and there is some rust going on in the bottom.  I have a pretty good idea of what I am going to do with it, but I'd love to hear what you would do with it.  Let me know in the comments, mmmkkay?

I think I see a break in the weather, so I'm off, for a hopefully drier, walk with the dog.

Have a good weekend!

Comfort Food

Hey all!

It's October! Which means Fall!  Which means, get out the yoga pants! Which means, comfort food!  Which means, soup (for me anyway)!

One of my favourite comfort foods is soup, and yes I call all soups comfort food, as long as they are hot.  If they are eaten cold, I won't even go near it.  Thanks, anyways.

So I've started a Pinterest Board with a collection of all my favourite Fall Comfort Recipes.

I've tried all of these recipes at some point, and most will soon be back into rotation in my kitchen. Usually 2 out 3 of my kids will eat any one of these recipes, and I have picky eaters so that is saying alot.

I'm sharing some of my favourites here, in case you wanted to try them. I have these pinned on my Pinterest Board, plus a whole bunch more, so feel free to take a look. I'm salivating just thinking about eating them.

If you want to pin any of them, go directly
to my Pinterest Board  and pin from there.
Give credit, where credit is due.  :)
