Although it wasn't on my to-do list for 2014, one of the things I needed to address this year, was my son's bedroom. One night last week, as we were having our nightly-before-bed chat, he says to me "Mom... is this a baby's room?" and I said "no, it's your room! Why?" and he said, "well, their was a baby in here before and you said you were gonna paint it and you haven't yet." Doh!
Darn kid, he has a great memory.
This is what the room looked like when we saw the house for the first time last Spring.
Chocolate brown on two walls, and teal on the other two. It looked nice for the baby that was living here at the time, but my boy is seven years old, and I did tell him, I was going to give him a special room when we moved. Yes, it's been 7 months since we moved in. loops.
So after his comment that night, I knew what I was doing the next day.
I had a can of light beige that I had bought to paint a room in our last house, and I never got around to painting. I had bought the paint about one month before we listed the house. So, I'm guessing the full of can of paint is about 9 or 10 months old. I took it to Benjamin Moore (that's where I had originally bought it) and told them I wanted to use the paint but I wanted a "darkish blue". I wasn't very picky about the blue. Just wanted blue. They fiddled around with the colours and after a day of me painting this is what the room looks like now.
Much better I think.
I have no idea what the colour is. If I get a chance I'll take the can back to Benjamin Moore and see if we can match it.
Here's a truer match to the colour.
It's a greyish-blue colour. And most importantly Anthony LOOOOVES his new big-boy room colour.
One last before-after...
Here's the original to-do for this room from this New House To-do post I did back in September.
- To- do:
- Curtains (I took down the browns and they are not going back up)
- Shelves/desk for toy area
Declutter toys (before Christmas comes)
- Art for above bed! (maybe the world map?)
So tell me, has your child ever guilt-ed you into painting their room? And more importantly anyone know how I can figure out what the colour is?
